Installing a modem?

I've bought a US Robotics 56k Internal Faxmodem for my Red Hat 7.1 box and can't seem to figure out how to install it. I want to be able to connect to the internet through my linux box from my windows after it's all said and done. Can anyone give me a little help/boost to get me on my way? All help appreciated, thanks.

well first off you want to check if its a winmodem or not. goto www.linmodems.org for details on winmodems that work with linux if yours is one. if its not supported, you have a slight chance of it ever working in linux, and i can only suggest finding a hardware modem or external which are easier to configure and more inclined to work.

You can just make sure to use the modemtools,option at the Terminal. or use setserial, and configure it from there.
