Arrow i want to setup basic mail server ?


hello guys,

i am new to networking, i have done basic setup of apache and primary dns in my network. i would like to setup a mail server now. but i know very little about mail servers.
i am thinkin of going for postfix mail server.
i have redhat 9 linux

more details postfix

hello,
i have installed postfix configured it as well, i have imap runing on my sytem now. how can i check working do i need any software for it.

i want to check if my machine is able to send mail to other machines in local lan. do i need to install any software.

how did u install postfix. I have slackware 10.0 And i want to install postfix. Tell me some websites which may help me.

there are lots of websites if u search google here is one for slackware 9 that is pretty easy to follow

Also a previous thread on here with some other suggestions instead of using postfix

hi there,

check out www.postfix.org it explains in detail about postfix installations. installing postfix is easy. hard part comes when u have got to make it work with mysql, webmail etc
