first off penguin not sure what kind of mess you are smoking, but i'd like some..

anyways, this is fedora core 2? 3com? never fear, just disable kudzu : chkconfig kudzu off, and reboot your machine.. network should be A'ok

It wasn't just that but, that was the push I needed. I am sending this post from MY LINUX BOX.

I checked the services that are running and kudzu is not one of them. My problem is identical to Wolfy's but the network card is Realtek semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+

Would appreciate your help.
