Question ethernet card


Hi,

I have configured the ethernet card for real tek 8139 which was auto detected by red hat 8.0.The connections shows active but I can surf thru the internet.

Also, it doesn't ping the Ip address.

The following is the settings I have appplied in windows...

Ip addr 172.16.1.1
subnet mask 255.255.255.0

Gateway 172.16.1.1 and 202.43.36.1

Dns 172.16.1.1 and 202.43.36.1

Pls anybody help???????????????

Can you post he output of:
ifconfig
route -n
