Do ethernet cards protect against direct current?
Hello all. I've setup a low grade ethernet crossover connection using the house's two unused pairs of phone wires. I am worried about the chance of current from the active phone line (48 volts here in the US) making its way onto the lines used for ethernet.
I suppose all ethernet cards would have a high pass filter that would completely prevent any significant direct current from flowing into the device, so I should be safe right?
