Connection Being Dropped

Every time I start to download a torrent, I can get a way into the download and it just quits. I'm not firewalled and I do have my ports forwarded because it works for a while and then just drops dead and the only way I can get the torrent to start downloading for a few more minutes is to restart my torrent client (I've tried Azureus and Bittornado and they both do the same thing). How can I fix this?
