My modem is detected but the connection is dropped

My rh8.0 detects my modem but after it logs on the connection is dropped the message is:Couldn't find interface ppp0: no such device.
exit status:16
I've used kppp and filled in all that was asked but I keep having this problem can someone help this newbie.......thanks in advance.

you might try redhat-config-network

you can add the connection there.

May seem simplistic, but did you enter your ISP's domain in kppp ?

Sounds like a bad connection. Check your wiring. Try lowering the modem speed some and see if it helps.
