configure eth1 as system failsafe


how do i do that eth1 to be configured as system failsafe (in case eth0 fails, eth1 to be enabled, and when eth0 comes back to be disabled);

You don't say what version/distro of Linux you're using, so it's hard to be specific. Google for "linux channel bonding". It will let you have one virtual address for a machine, with failover to two 'real' interfaces. Works very well.

As far as how you know that eth0 has failed...your results may vary, depending on what you're looking at. If you just look at the card to see if it's up, that won't do much if the cable gets unplugged, or the router/switch is down. Lots of ways to do it, all depends on your situation.

Yes , I'm using Debian , in a virtual machine which has 3 Ethernet
