broadcom 440 driver


im sorry if this has been posted before. i am a newbie to the whole linux world. iv messed around with it a little bit but as far as adding drivers i havnt done that. i need a driver for my onboard broadcom 440 10/100 ethernet card...and instructions on how to install it. if anybody knows where i can get this please let me know. thank you

I'm not sure when it appeared, but in my kernel 2.4.22 it is natively supported.
It results in a module b44.o

In your /etc/modules.conf file, it should read

alias eth0 b44

There are linux drivers at the Broadcom web site, but as coldeyes said, support for the 440 has been in the kernel since 2.4.20. That said, my experience with both has been a little frustrating. Using the broadcom drivers and a 2.4.20 kernel, the card would be recognized, but couldn't seem to connect to anything. Using the drivers in the kernel worked with 2.4.20 but not 2.4.22. Eventually I moved to 2.6.0.test5 and that worked well.
