3com etherlink III card

I've had problems using this card in Linux (slackware 9) but I may have an idea why it hasn't been working - do I have to tell it to use the "10 Base T" transceiver, rather than the "Thick Net (AUI/DIX)" or "Thin Net (BNC/COAX)".

And if so how?

What kind of problems are you having? You shouldn't have to tell it what media connection to use. I've used 3c509 cards fine in Linux. They're actually one of my favorite NICs to use.

It won't connect. It refuses to "see" the other computer. But it connects fine in windows. I can't ping the other computer. In NT 4 I had to specifically tell it which to use but in '98 and XP It knew. But in Linux it just doesn't work.
