Been trying since the day of release of Freya to replace my OS on my Laptop; reformatted all my drives then tried to install Freya.

After attempting to create partitions and install, the following screen (select location) has an overlay consisting of "??? ???".

Following this I used GParted to create the partitions instead, and I am able to begin installation however part way through the installer crashes with this message "the grub-efi-amd64-signed package failed to install into /target/"

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

Did you disable Secure Boot & create efi partition?

Yeah both disabled


EDIT: Woops that came out wrong - Yeah I disabled secure boot - I created the EFI partition via the installer instead of GParted though
