Running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS with current updates
In the past week (from 18-May-2011) my elderly T600 stopped suspending and hibernating properly. I noticed a new error message in the boot cycle (and dmesg) that wss is unable to grab port 0x0.
After some bumbling investigation and other attempts I blacklisted the internal sound card by adding the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/local.conf
Code:
blacklist snd-cs4236
This seems to have solved the problem, and I don't need the internal sound hardware. Your mileage may vary!
You may be amused to know that this 12-year-old laptop is used almost every day for audacity audio recording (Edirol USB audio hardware) and xsane scanning (Plustek OpticPro4800p parallel port scanner), as well as serving as an X-terminal to my main desktop machine.
