I have a thinkpad suspend problem

I just upgraded my Thinkpad 600e to SuSE 9.2 personal, and one thing has changed. When I close the lid it doesnt suspend. It used to shut down the hard drive, screen , and all, and would come back once you opened the screenback up. What happens now is that the screen goes all crazy and then doesnt come out of it. I end up having to hard reboot the system, (which is not good). So does anyone else have this problem as well?? And if so whats the fix?
Thanks,
Wavz

I'm not having this issue. Have you looked at your settings or reconfigured them in Yast2 Power Management/KPowerSave?

Try putting acpi_sleep=s3_bios in your kernel boot line (which will fix the resume issue) and, like JSpired mentioned, enable suspend to RAM and disk in Yast2 Power Management/KPowerSave. Also, your lappy will not resume if you have 3D acceleration enabled for your video card.

I also have a thinkpad T22 but a little problem with it too...

The first time i suspend it (in klaptop) it works and wakes up out of it fine. Everything works ok except that the sound no longer works (i need to killall -9 artsd) even without PCI bus power management or speedstep.

The second time, it hard-crashes when it enters suspend mode (hold power button for 8 seconds)

The exact same thing happens when use software hibernate (pmdisk=/dev/hda2)

This happens the same in both Gentoo and Slackware. (Kernel 2.6.10)

Is it an issue with the configuration or ACPI bugs etc?

Make sure you have APM enabled in your kernel instead of ACPI and also make sure your system loads APMD instead of ACPID at boot. This will allow you to use the Fn keys too, and if you have a hda1 fat 16 partition (needs to be alittle bigger then the size of your ram) with the ps2 program (thinkpad program) it will make a file on the fat 16 partition of the size of your ram so then you can suspend to disk and ram.

If you need more help ill try making a easy guide for you.
