I Found a Compaq contura aero 4/33C
HD=170mb
Cpu=33Mhz
Ram=8Mb
and nothing else..
I didn't have the power suply and no external drive.
Oh and the screen was seperated from the computer since it fell to the ground.
After a little tune up, reconnect and attach the screen, clean the mouse, I pluged a IMB psu since its the exact same specs and turned on the machine and then the old microsoft windows 3.1 boots up...Hehehe
So it works. Next step : upgrade to Linux. Slackware sounded good to me since I've always use it and it works great.
Problem 1 : no way of getting data into the machine.
solution : -reopen the machine - take the HD out and plug it into another computer. Mini IDE ? No prob just use an adapter and plug it to your favorite desktop computer....
Booted witch Slackware 9 CD 1
Hda1 = 155mb
hda2(swap) = 20mb
Installed all of the A package
Installed partialy the N package
Installed the lowmem.i kernel
Installed Lilo xfs
8mb left !!!
reinstalled the hd in the laptop
booted and Voila

Thats pretty much it for now !
