Well i didn't get much back on my last post so i uploaded a video on YouTube so you guys can check it out and see if you can tell me whats going on...The Video is my HP Pavilion dv9000 tyring to start up Fedora Core 6.
NO I am unable to login as root and do anything my machine wont get that far it just locks up...ive tried uninstall and a fresh install but the same thing at one point it would let me login sometimes but now not at all...im completely stumped on what to do
You can login as root. At the very first 'blue screen', hit enter. You will be presented with a choice of kernels (only one after installation). Hit 'e' to edit the entry, scroll to the kernel line and hit 'e' again. At the end of the line, remove the 'rhgb' and replace it with a '3' (no quotes). Hit enter, and then 'b' to boot the modified entry. You'll get a text login screen, where you can login as root.
No, I can't see your (new) screen. Can you describe the problem? What was the last service started? Did it begin an additional service and then not get an OK/Failed?
I have a dv9008nr and have played hell in getting it to function at all. It is a BIOS issue. that HP refuses to do anytthiong about. I am running F.28 BIOS now and still the ACPI and APIC are badly broken. To get around this ypou need to disable apic in grub. Add the line "pci=routeirq noapic" and the laptop will boot. To see the errors in the bios run the first disk for opensuse and choose firmware test. i have lodged a complaint at the BBB. I Suggest you all do the same. HP told me that if you load ANYTHING other than XP or Vista YOUR warranty is VOID!!!!!!
