I set up mandrake and fedora core and have same problem. I can ping local net.
but nothing else.

inbound traffic seems to be working just cant send anything.www,ftp,telnet,ping nothing outside the lan.

static ip used here.

windows works fine with same settings when i am booted to it, so i am puzzled

everything else works great.

nic is realtec 8139

You can ping local network machines, but can't ping beyond. Sounds like the gateway is not set. Whichever IP address the modem is attached to should be your gateway. Also, if you can ping an ip address beyond your lan, but can't ping a url such as www.yahoo.com you might need to set static DNS server addresses in /etc/resolv.conf.

system uses static ip's, dns, and gateway and are set correctly.
