as far as my initial tests show is that the IR port is recognized by SuSE 9.2's yast.

will check and see if it sees emitted stuff from my phone.

Problems using Fedora Core 3

I've recently dumped XP for fedora core 3, I've Fujitsu Siemens Amilio D1840w.
I have following problems.
Boot with smp hangs, I'm using kernel 2.6.11-1.14. without smp it works fine.
Thus during boot the video card identification fails. but it works fine anyway??

Does someone know how to detect the MMC and IR???? I've been searching alot for a solution for that problem but I've got no idea to solve that problem. A solution would be fine, someone???

Another more critical problem, is the soundcard. When I play mp3's in xmms the sound get fussy. It sounds like the speakers are broken, but I know they not. Someone with a solution???

in order to get the unsupported broadcom card to work, you only need to follow the known instructions for the ndiswrapper.
(or linuxant if that fancies you)

however, the card sucks, you cannot get it into promiscuous mode or whatever. basically it's broken.

two options.

1) get a decent natively supported card in the pccard slot
2) replace the mini-pci card with a natively supported card.

for the kernel -- try a non-f*cked up kernel. RH is well known for being able to kill off your system.
MMC won't work, O2 hasn't got the drivers yet (they have for a 2.4.x kernel but that's it for the moment)
IR -- didn't I see someone write about it here in this thread ?
