I am a happy user of Amilo Pro V2000 user under Fedora Core 4.

Everything works fine except WLAN (based on ipw2200).

I tried acerhk and fsam7400 but I can't start it.

I found also interesing page here: sorry.vse.cz/~felix/wifi/amilocz.html but it just does not work on my laptop.

if you managed to start the build in WLAN interface on this notebook could you please post the detailed information about it?

Never give up

I finally managed to start it and as I saw many people reading this post here is short list of steps I did to make it work.

From: http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/ i dowloaded newest version 1.0.6 of driver. I had to update the IEEE80211 driver to version 1.0.3.
The INSTALL sections for both packages are very good and will let you do this without problems.

After that from: http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/firmware.php I dowloaded newest firmware 2.3 i have installed it in directory defined in /etc/hotplug/firmware.agent

after that problems described in http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/ -> issues - disappeared.

later I installed acerhk - it is needed to swich on the radio in the WLAN - although the led will not work.

And thats it!

Now I am writing this post using WLAN in my Amilo Pro

I followed all the instruction i found in your post, in the link you refere to and in ipw2200.sourceforge.net, I even reinstalled Fedora Core 4 again... but it just won't work.. I get this message when I try to active eth1

Error for wireless request "Set Bit Rate" (8B20) :
SET failed on device eth1 ; Operation not supported.

Determining IP information for eth1... failed; no link present. Check cable?


I assume acerhk is running by this:
lsmod | grep acerhk
acerhk 28472 0


And sorry if this may sound stupid, but i am no linux pro, when running kudzu, i keep getting prompts to give root password even though i am logged in as root, and when giving it the password, i get access denied!!!!

I tried not using dynamic settings and manually set the ip address (i have my own wireless router with DHCP functionality), and I got eth1 up, but with this error still

and no traffic going through...
I am starting to feel bored of not being able to use the wlan card...
Any ideas?
