Angry Compaq LTE5280 and MDK10 NFS install

I recently installed MDK10 Community on my AMD desktop and I'm now trying to install it on my Compaq LTE5280 laptop via a NFS install from the desktop. The installation goes smoothly in text expert mode except for one major issue: the harddrive isn't detected. Somewhat mystifying as the HD is definitely functioning and present (Windows 98SE is currently loaded).
The installer reports the problem hardware as OPTi Inc. 82C557 [Viper-M] host bridge and OPTi Inc. 82C558 [Viper-M ISA+IDE] ISA bridge. I'm guessing I need to load a kernel driver for this hardware - what driver should I try and where can I get it?
Thanks in advance!
