lock detection with tainted kernel

Hi Everyone,

I'm using a tainted kernel due to proprietary modules (wifi drivers...). How can I leave the kernel lockup detection enabled? I'm using quite an old kernel 2.6.31, so I have /proc/sys/kernel/softlockup_[panic|thresh].

I can change the kernel if necessary as I'd like to run this for debugging purposes only.

I'm using iMX233 if that needs to happen in the arch layer.

Cheers,
Peter

As long as you don't distribute the kernel, you are free to disable the taint mechanism. Comment out the code in the add_taint_module routine in module.c and rebuild.
