Wireless...What Next?

Howdy! I just bought an Acer Aspire 3620. It has an Atheros wireless chip. I installed PHLAK and downloaded the madwifi driver for the wireless. It installed after a simple "make" and now I have ath0 for a wireless network interface. So far so good.

Next I did a
iwconfig ath0 essid "myhouse" key mykey12345
and it completed without any error messages. But I still can't get on the internet! What else do I need to do to make this work?

Any help is very much appreciated! Thanks.

Does your router/access point assign IPs via DHCP? If so, try "dhcpcd ath0" or "dhclient ath0" and that should hopefully get you an address.

dhcpcd doesn't exist on this system and dhclient returns interface not existant for both ath0 and eth0 (which both exist).

...strange indeed?

That is odd. What does ifconfig return?
