video cards w/ TV out

the last vid card i bought was my lovely voodoo5, so you can see how i might be out of the loop in the area.
if one was so inclined as to hook up a tv to their linux rig for a mighty game of Serious Sam with super fancy graphics, which video card would one seek to purchase (keeping in mind one's meager budget)

various Nvidia and ATI budget cards have been advertised in the computer paper for under $100. whats the deal with those, will they burn out before i even get a chance to muckaround with them?

Nvidia and ATI chipsets are reliable, almost mindnumbingly so. You'll probably be best off with a Nvidia card, check their driver docs to make certain that the TV-out portion of the card is actually supported under Linux.
