Post Zero video cards

How do you set up Linux to boot with NO VIDEO CARD?

I'm trying to boot my linux box with no video card, but it won't. Of course I don't know how far it gets, but if I type, it fills up the buffer (ie it beeps for every keystroke after so-many keystrokes).
Anyway, how do I set Linux to not look for a video card? I think I just need to set the Standard Output to something else (null? a dead port like com0?). I'm using Mandrake, if that makes any diff, though I would switch if it ment making this possable.

Usually the motherboard starts beeping like crazy when it can't find a videocard. You should be able to disable that in the bios though.
You might want to build your system with a video card and once you've got it running just remove the card and reboot.

In the kernel sources directory you might want to read the file Documentation/serial-console.txt it tells you how you can redirect the console output to another device.
Default is to automatically use serial port if no vga card is found.

Using Mandrake shouldn't be a problem, it should work fine. Personally I'd build a custom system for something like that.
