Starting X Server / Monitor Turns Off

Hello,

I was running my FC4 and my GUI was too small and I
went to change the display from the tool bar and make it
larger. I then logged out and now when my FC4 boots it turns off the monitor. I changed my Xorg.conf file
to use "vesa" as the device from "nv". When I run
system-config-display it stops with an error
" couldn't start X server on card 0" and " couldn't
start X server with old config file, trying with fresh
configuration" then it hangs after several audits.
I tied this a couple of times and running start X I got
a lock error but removed it and I still can't boot
up again without the monitor turning off.

- Thanks for your help.

Can't you just boot up some simple mini distro, mount the hdd partitions manually and correct the xorg.conf ?
