my monitor turns off

Hi, I have downloaded the iso file of the 0.5 beta version of DNA Linux, I burned the image file and booted from disk, it started well until the login screen, I loged in with "root" and the password "dnalinux" but when I type "starx" my monitor turns off and after a wild I listen a Sound I guess is the kde start sound, but such my monitor is turned off I really can't tell,

what happend? how can I start the gui?

PD. Excuse my english I'm still learning

Is the monitor power light still on? Perhaps your xorg.conf file isn't configured correctly with the horizontal and vertical sync values that your monitor needs. That can cause a monitor to go completely black, appearing as though it turned off. You have to modify the xorg.conf file with the values for your monitor. Search on Google for your monitor and you should find those horizontal and vertical sync values.
