hey guys,
So I bought this sound card... and is compatible w/ linux checked that before i bought it.. here is the problem.. everytime i start my pc, it says couldnt open the mixer.. and i get no sound, i worked at first, but then i dont know what happened and now everytime it says mixer not found, and in the sound card detection agent it brings up the card, i hit the test sound botton, nothing comes out... what do i do... btw im running RH8 w/ full updates from #yum.. please lemme know anything that could help.. thanks
We really need to know the sound card model to help you with that. If you get it installed and you still don't have sound, you might wanna try the mixer itself. Most default to mute.
I have had a little trouble getting ALSA to run smoothly. When I finally got it to a point that it would work, amixer said something like "Cannot open mixer device". I had to use setmixer to get it to work.
What would help us is your model of card and an output of lsmod.
