nVidia driver issue

Hello,

I am running Slackware 10.2 on kernel 2.6.13

I'm having a problem installing my nvidia drivers.

I go through the setup fine by running

./nvidia-installer -a -n -k 2.6.13

It installs without erorrs

When I do the following

modprobe nvidia

I get this error:

"FATAL: Error inserting nvidia (/lib/modules/2.6.13/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.ko): No such device."

When I try to startX with the device set to 'nvidia' It says No device found..

My device is listed in lspci as: nVidia Corporation NV5M64 [ RIVA TNT2 Model 64/ Model 64 Ori] (rev 15)

Can anyone help me fix this?

all you gotta do is...........
Code:
sh NVIDIA<version>.sh
and the installer interface will start ..........

I think you should read my post to figure out what exactly the problem was, instead of just posting without thinking.

Also, that is NOT all you have to do because the nvidia-installer doesnt always find where your kernel modules are located..

I fixed it anyway.

Well for my problem i had to download a legacy driver for my nvidia card. I'm not sure if it was by searching through the log files that i found the latest driver did not work for my card or it might have said somewhere on the nvidia site.

I had to download one that was i think two versions old. The nvidia site has all the old drivers and says which ones will work for which cards.
If your need to get the specific name to compare on the nvidia site run lspci as root on the console (it lists the pci devices).
