nVidia Driver Install issue.... Disappears after Reboot

I'm running Red Hat 7.3, and i've installed the nvidia drivers and they work with X. However, whenever I reboot, X refuses to start until I reinstall the drivers again.... after that it works fine again until the next reboot.

Anyone know why, or how to fix this?

are you sure they are gone ?
do rpm -qa|grep -i nvidia
should produce two lines with kernel and glx
when you reboot you automaticly come in runlevel 3
or does X crash producing some errors?

if you can startx into X maybe your inittab is set to
wrong default runlevel should be

id:5:initdefault:
for starting X
what manager do you use gdm, kdm or xdm ? kdm
sometimes falls back to runlevel 3, use gdm instead
kdm and XFree 4.2 can cause some trouble.

X just crashes and produces some errors, it says that the NVdriver isn't found and GL can't load. I am using XFree 4, so i think that could probably be what the problem is.... I'm using gnome and such, all default stuff for rhat 7.3.

The problem comes when after logging in and i do startx and the errors come up, after i do a make install on the kernel and GLX drivers, everything works fine.

I'd imagine then that it's the Xfree 4 that might be the problem then, but how would I fix it?

The problem might be that the NVdriver kernel module is not loading when you boot. Add the line "alias char-major-195 NVdriver" to /etc/modules.conf and do as root "depmod -ae" and "ldconfig".

Also check the x config file in the /etc/X11/ folder. It should have some of the things taken out, and others left in. The Nvidia website has a readme file with the things that need to be in it
