NetRaid 3si with FC3 or RHE4 not working

Hi

I have a HP NetServer LH3r with a NetRaid 3si RAID controller card in one of the PCI slots. I've run Windows and FC1 and FC2 on this machine and always had great results - especially with the Linux loads.

Now I'd like to update to FC3 and I also want to run RHE4 eventually on it. But .... I can't get the install of either FC3 or RHE4 to recognize and install the correct driver for this controller. During the install RHE4 and FC3 both load three drivers - a Symbios, a MegaRaid and an Intel driver - but none of these are apparently the correct drivers as the install fails when I get to the automatic/manual disk partition. The install tells me there are no recognized drives and ends.

Could anyone please help me understand what may be wrong and how to fix it. If I need to download drivers - I'll need a little guidance on that and how to load them as I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to this level of Linux.

Please accept my thanks in advance for your time and assiatance.
Robert.

Hello,

I am having the same problem, though I using HP NetServer LC 2000 U3. The raind controller is NetRAID-1M (LSI 5301010-33). Linux (FC3) startup, a driver sym53c8xx loads along with megaraid, and interl network driver, but the setup doesnot detect anything.

Could u find any solution or workaround for this?

Thanks for any help.

Regards
Jabran

Found these two bugzilla reports thru google that sound similar to the problem your experiencing.

The second link has a solution in one of the posting near the end.

Hi jabran

I didn't fully work out a solution - I am now using RHE3 which does work.

Probably very worthwhile looking at what okmyx has posted. I think the solution may be in those posts.

Thank you Robert for the quick response. I had a look on the links, but I am not sure how the pcitable would be updated. More important, I will be using the server as a dedicaed file server, so not sure whether patching so will be safe, and any future upgrade in the kernel will cause the system to go down. May be it will be better that I replace the RAID controller card with one compatible with RHEL4.

Thanks again.
