Question Need recommendations for laser or inkjet printer

My inkjet printer died, so I'm looking for a new one, preferably a laserjet but open to an inkjet. I only care for B&W prints since my work is mostly reports and documents, and I have another color printer. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I found that the HPLJ1020 is very inexpensive but compatibility may be an issue. Does anyone have any experinces with it?

Distro: Mandriva 10.X but possibly moving to (K)ubuntu.

Thanks

just use any printer addition tool such as kprinter

it will give u a list of printers that the distro supports,u can check that list with the the list of printers that u are getting locally

I usually stick with Epson's. I have never had a problem setting these up in linux.

printers

Epson (upside - very linux friendly, downside - clogged heads not worth repairing)

HP (upside - also linuxfriendly, many have printheads built into cartridge, downside - lowend printers cheaply built)

Samsung. Samsung 2150 series lasers come with linux drivers on disk.

Older Canons are also compatible as are some Imagewriters.

Also follow links posted.

good luck

PostScript and a NIC makes setup easy on any Unix-like OS. I bought a HP Color LaserJet 2550n and have been extremely happy with it.
