Question Modem problems

I have a modem with a Motorola SM56 chipset and I'm trying to use it in Red Hat 7.3. I got the latest drivers from Motorola but when I do a modprobe or insmod I get a segmentation fault. I heard that these drivers work just fine for other people with RedHat 7.1 and 7.2. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Please help - I'm desperate
