Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

looking up user reviews

of monitors. I'm after a new 19 or 20" screen and have found a few disturbing articles. One network manager posted that a large proportion of the hundreds of Viewsonics he had under his control had to go back for attention under the guarantee.

A few other people have posted that Samsungs last out the guarantee period but not much more than that. One other guy reckoned that Hanns monitors were assembled out of used ones.

So, what I'd like to know is the makes which are likely to be reliable and durable. Googling for those qualities wasn't very helpful. I wonder, too, if E-IPS and C-PVA type monitors are better made than the TN one I'm using now.

If anyone knows about this sort of thing I'd be grateful.

When I'm looking to buy something, I will check out New Egg and then read the reviews of the item I'm interested in.

Yeah, that's what I've done and that's where I found some of the things that disturb me.

Pity there isn't a site devoted to long term tests of monitors, such as you can find in cars.

Thanks for your reply.
