Knoppix 7.2 loaded to hard drive. CH Virtual Pilot joystick does not work
Hi, My name is Electron. I am new to Linux using Knoppix 7.2 installed on hard drive. I've been trying to get my computer to utilize the inputs from my CH Virtual Pilot control yoke and rudder pedals for use in Flightgear but it appears my computer does not see or recognize my SBLive gameport or control yoke (it appears that way to me since I don't see it registered as an input device on SYSTEM Profiler and Benchmark) since Flightgear does not see my control yoke. Can any one help with this. Thanks
hi welcome to Linux questions you may want to read this so we can really help you. http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/...Ask_a_Question
really need some info on your computer like on board game controller or added sound blaster controller. type of hardware. This is a hardware issue.
Then you have to make sure the Manufacture of that Yoke did not make it for Windows only. Have you looked for help from the manufacture of the product.
have you googled how to get it to work on Linux.
I did and I do not see anything from the manufacture on use for the linux operating system if I am wrong which I hope for your sake.
is this the program you are using http://www.flightgear.org/download/main-program/.
Really need info.
CH Virtual Pilot Pro yoke is working now with SB Live
Greetings everyone, thank you for responding. I finally got the CH Virtual Pilot control yoke to work with the SB Live sound card. There was a solution for it on the Flightgear forum. It's not exactly perfect yet though because I need to reload the Mod manually after I shut my computer down and turn it back on. I am a newbie at Linux but I figure I need to modify my boot config file which ever one that would be so I don't have to load the mod manually myself. With Knoppix loaded to hard drive with out Adriane running Flightgear runs from 5 fps on ground to 10 fps in the air at altitude of 4000' flying around the bay area. I have the Radeon HD 4650 AGP video card with 1 GB DDR3 but unfortunately I'm only runnin a 250W power supply. I need to get at least a 400 W power supply. I know I use to have a 150 W power supply and running microsoft FSX and when I switched to 250 W power supply I was able to get better fps. So yes I will purchase a better power supply soon.
You can of course program modules to be loaded automatically at boot time and even for them to be removed at shutdown, through the mechanism of init-scripts.
I'm very surprised to see that you installed Knoppix on a hard-drive, because I've always thought of that distro as being one that's really geared toward being booted from a DVD in order to rescue a dead duck. Perhaps you should consider installing a different one, as suggested above. After all, if someone else has solved your ... why ?!
You might check the flightgear site to see if they have any recommendations. Otherwise, using one of the major distributions suggested above would be a better idea. If you read the information at the knoppix site in the link below, you will understand why Knoppix is not a good choice and you will likely have problems installing new software and trying to use it.
Greetings, I have installed Suse 13.1 and yes things are working better for me with Flightgear. Thank you to everyone with the beautiful developement of Suse and Flightgear. What has been created is AWESOME! Thank you. I hope I can contribute to these projects to make it even better for future generations.
