Knoppix installed on hard drive cannot get nic to work

I have the gigabyte ga-k8nf-9 motherboard which uses the unusual nforce-4-4x chipset. The nvidia drivers cover the onboard nic no problem. However i cannot install them as you need the kernel source and kernel headers in order for it to install on any debian based system. I have kernel 2.6.11 on an i686 system. Normally this could be done on any distribution by using a network card that works no problem and using apt-get to get the source and the headers then install the driver and reboot. So i'd like to know if and where i can get the source and headers and burn them to cd and use the cd as an apt-get source so that i can install them. Or if possible get the drivers for my extra network card (Netgear FA311) in a .deb package.

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Does you nic work when you boot from the CD?

If so pop it back in and download your drivers that way.

but thats the problem the cd works with both my nics but once you install it to hd as a debian based system you can no longer use either one. Is it possible to install the drivers from the cd?

edit: i cannot find drivers for the fa311 online either

You can copy the knoppix config files.

check out knoppix wiki for instructions.

Also I have the Knoppix Hacks book, when I get home I'll post the instructions.

i fixed it by reinstalling knoppix as beginner. This way i get knoppix's excellent hardware support.
