Kernel Panic...

Hi there,

I run a very basic linux system as a router/firewall/web server, atm running RedHat 8.

I've been trying to find a solution to a kernel panic when either trying to update to RH 9 or running the updated 2.4.20 kernel for ages when I stumbled across a solution today... Only using 1 IDE channel...

Problem is I use 2 HD's and a CD-ROM in this PC...

I could get rid of 1 of the HD's but I'd rather not so can any1 out there suggest another way to fix this problem so that I can use both IDE channels? or would installing a distribution with a 2.4.22 kernel solve the problem?

Thanks,

Phil.

I use mdk, but the panic is normally more to do with wrong settings in your bootloader lilo or grub.

are you trying to boot to another drive, and can you remember if you configured lilo or grub?

2) is the second drive visible in your /etc/fstab file?
