I have an ISA soundcard, (Creative Soundblaster AWE64) I've been trying to set it up on a Gentoo system and I can get the isapnp to dump out the configuration file and uncomment the configuration I want.
However when I return to the ALSA configuration it still cannot find the card and I cant work out what else to do?
Has anyone had any experience is ISA soundcards and setting them up? Any help or pointers would be most appreciated.
Well, I've just configure my ISA soundcard (Creative Soundblaster), and you must change in your BIOS the IRQ assigned for your soundcard.
When you do this, adding isa module with modconf, you can automaticaly configure it with alsaconf.
I'll tell you how I got it working. I threw the card out and bought a PCI card for a tenner. More hassle than its worth when its *so simple* to do with PCI.
I'm glad you offered that. I didn't know sound cards were so cheap...I'm always hearing the local school nerds talk about their brand new $200 sound cards. I just can't justify paying $200+ for a sound card. But, since it only costs ~$10, I might just pop down to the closest Future Shop or Best Buy and pick one up.
