Post Install Brother Laser Printer

I just purchased a Brother HL-L8360CDWT Laser Printer because it was compatible with Linux. I am running an ASUS Predator Box, with UBUNTU. I am using the latest distro. I downloaded a file from Brother called hll8360cdwcupswrapper-1.3.0-0.i386.deb
I have no idea how to install this driver, and the printer will not work without it. Do I have the right driver? How do I go about installing it? I tried the 'sudo apt-get install <filename>, but that did not work. What am I doing wrong? I AM NEW TO LINUX.

In general you need to install the LPR driver package and then the CUPS wrapper driver package:
hll8360cdwlpr-1.2.0-0.i386.deb
hll8360cdwcupswrapper-1.3.0-0.i386.deb

The install instructions are shown in the respective download pages.

I note that for 64-bit Debian/Ubuntu installs, the following is mentioned
https://support.brother.com/g/s/id/l...edirect=on#004
Quote:
Pre-required Procedure (5)
Related distributions
Debian 64 bit version, Ubuntu 64 bit version
Related products/drivers
printer/PC-FAX drivers
Requirement
ia32-libs or lib32stdc++ is required to be installed.
So, you'll need to use your package manager to install these first.

Here's a blog describing the general steps (different Brother model) required to get the 32-bit drivers working in a recent 64-bit Ubuntu environment...
