I am afraid to inform you that release is too old to support usb devices. The current release is 9.0. After that, a fork named Fedora take place. The fedora is in the 4th version !

Better to move for a more recent distro. Ubuntu is a modern distro with support for modern hardware and worth the trouble to migrate.

regards

Thanks, currently downloading Fedora, so I will wait until I've installed that version.

Maybe Fedora just detects and mounts it automatically but if not check the contents of /etc/fstab and see if it has a line like the following:

/dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1 auto sync,noauto,user,exec 0 0

That line is taken from my /etc/fstab.
Then if I type at the command line: "mount /mnt/sda1", it mounts a usb flash drive or usb hard drive, and the contents are located in that directory (i.e. /mnt/sda1). Then don't forget to unmount it before physically removing it, by typing
"umount /mnt/sda1".
