how do i enable 4CH sound with cm8738 with ALSA on slack9.1

hey all! slack installed and got my sound working flawlessly, but it's only 2 channels. i tried googling around but couldn't find a quick solution on how to configure alsa to do 4 channels. any ppl out there that know how to configure alsa for 4 channels?

It looks like the Alsa module doesn't support those options. The cmpci module from the kernel works fine and takes an option for how many speakers you have (2-6 I believe).

i somehow got it to work...not quite sure how lol.

i used gnome-alsamixer and checked the 4 channel mode and it worked! it was weird cuz the console alsamixer didn't do anything....so it's weird the gui counterpart worked.
