How do i enable DMA in slack9.1


hi
how do i enable DMA for my DVD? i am using slack 9.1. i need some help, thanks in advance for ur reply

go into a console windows or text terminal and type.. "man hdparm"

If you don't have hdparm. go find and install it. Then read up on the man page Might help you optomize you hard drive too

hdparm -d1 /dev/hdX
where X is the device...you will change it accordingly...
even hdparm -d1 /dev/dvd should work....which assuming there is a symlink to the device..

Assuming /dev/hdb is your DVD-ROM drive try running 'hdparm -d1 /dev/hdb' as root. Check the hdparm man pages or here for more info. Hope this helps!
