Hayes external 56k V92 Problems

I don't know if this is the right forum, but I think its more of a hardware compatibility issue than anything else.

I am running Mdk9.1 with an external Hayes Accura 56k V92 on ttyS0.

The modem works, but not up to its full V92 spec, and with a few other problems.
It runs perfect under windows. I have tried issuing other initstrings to force it to use V92, but it is unable to initialise.

As far as I can tell, there are no linux drivers for this modem (please prove me wrong :-) ), but there are for the windows platform.

The other problem is posting replies to forums, userass or anytype of feedback to a web page. I thought this was the firewall at first, but it doesnt occur if you hang up and re-dial.

If anybody is using the same modem, or has experienced any similar problems, I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

as far as your web page problems, it might just be
a browser problem. i occasionally have trouble with
mozilla entering text on a web page, but if i change
workspaces, then change back, I am able to continue.

is it your modem on hold stuff you are trying to get working?

My first thought was the browser, but I tried 3, Opera - preffered, konqueror and mozilla. Changing workspace or user makes no difference. I think it has more to do with the connection protocol.

AT+MS=V92,0 doesnt work (the modem doesnt init at all)
AT+MS=V90,0 works

According to the manual, and other sources, this should work regardless of the operating system
