Fedora 4 SIS soundcared not working

the KDE Kmix tool shows as nothing being muted. The ALSAMIXER shows nothing as muted.
The soundcard detection tool shows my card, but hangs the program if I try to play a test sound.

Any help you can provide me would be most excellent. I am really not good at linux hardware and getting it to work.

Thanks in advance!

Daniel

I have just yesterday installed Gentoo on same computer as that. Worked like a charm. Not the answer to your question, but maybe a pointer.

Can we compare outputs of:
modinfo soundcore
&
/sbin/lspci

I dont have any idea if that info will help me but if yours is different, maybe I can try to figure out why. Thanks for the info. By the way, what do you think of Gentoo? It looked pretty cool to me
