downloading photos from a motorola v26x usb phone

Hi,

I'm almost sure it's impossible, since these mobile usb m*thf*kcers like to do their hardware so that only with very special knowledge of their interface you can get anything, but i'll still give it a shot:

I have a motorola V265, and i feel hopeless to download the photos from the phone into the computer thru the usb front. Any one knows if i can have a good chance of getting that to work under linux?

Most usb devices can be mounted and read as a usb-storage device.
Check if you have module "usb-storage" loaded and plug in your phone.

In a terminal, as root, run
Code:
tail -s 3 -f /var/log/messages
This should show you how your device is recognized (eg: sda1).

You can then mount and access it in /mnt

thanks mdg, i also found an application called bitpim (bitpim.sf.net) which is orientated to Nokia/Sanyo/LG phones but still allows to browse , write and read the filesystem in the motorola mobiles. This works both on linux & windows
