Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Attempts to mount any of these devices, sda1, sdb1, sda15, etc, all yield the same error message "not a valid block device"

To repeat: my fstab has a line which seems to indicate that /proc/bus/usb/ is the proper path to use. And, indeed, when i specify that as the mount path to digiKam, it seems to be happy. The lcd on the camera indicates it is on, and a number of photos present, but digiKam can find no images to download.

The suggestions to use dmesg | tail and mount the camera as a scsi drive are similar to what worked for me.

I use a FujiFinePix. (I was lucky to find a webpage specifically about that brand, but I'm too new here to post the link.) I got it to mount with the following line:

/dev/sda1 /mnt/FujiFinePix vfat ro,noauto,user 0 0

which I finally got right after about 15 minutes of messing around with dmesg | tail.

I mount it just as if it were another drive and can access the pictures directly with a file manager.
