Digital Camera

Hi

I have a Kodak CX6230 Digital Camera and I try to use gtkam to obtain the photos, but it doesn't work, i think that my camera is not supported.

Someone know another program or another way to obtain the photos ?

--Thanks--

It looks like your camera is supported (see the libgphoto2 support list - libgphoto2 is what gtkam uses). You could try using gphoto2 directly. It's a command-line interface to all the cameras it supports, and in my experience is more stable than gtkam. They have pretty good documentation.

If you are using USB, make sure USB support is working - the manual has a section on doing that.

Most Digital Cameras are seen by the kernel as USB removable storage devices (like a flash memory stick or USB hard drive) with a fat 32 filesystem. My camera (Nikon Coolpix 2500) is on the list of devices that gtkam is supposed to support but I couldn't get it to work. However, throught the magic of Google I found the command
mv /mnt/mp3/dcim/100nikon/*.jpg /home/andy/tmp
moves the photos from the camera to the tmp folder in my home. The kernel needs to be configured to support USB storage devices obviously. Good luck.
