desktop flickering tv tuner and mythtv

hi

my monitor has a irritating flickering issue which i diagnosed as a refresh rate problem (lcd monitor 19 inches 8ms response time tft technology reccomended reso.+1280x1024@ 60hz) i figured out how to fix the refresh rate through some miracle and the flickering persisted. but i noticed that when i took out my video input for my ati 550 tv tuner, the flickering died down a bit. hmmmm i wonder if there could have been some interference there?????

i want to get the card working. it is an ati theater 550 . i tried to insall mythtv but that was an excercise in futility so i need a link to he easiest way to do it (synaptic package manager?) alright thanx in advance ubunians
