Crazy problems with Slackware ISO on PIII with lite-on drive

Ok, So everyone doesn't think I'm totally stupid, I have three PC's all running linux and two dual booting with Windows. But I've got a older dell with a PIII running a lite-on drive and for some reason it will not boot up any ( yes ) any Slackware CD. It will not boot 10.2, 11.0 or 12.0..... It will boot my gparted CD, ubaunta, fedora, debain, gentoo, zenwalk, lfs, & dslinux.. Ok, your next question would be will is there something wrong with the disk I burned slackware or will the other machines boot the slackware disc and yes they will...

When the machine is either started with the disc in the the drive or either I put the disc in and reboot ( this is any of the slackware disc ) the lights will flash like it's trying to read the disc but for some reason it just passes it up and boots up to grub. It was booting directly into windows before I got peaved and installed Zenwalk just to have atleast something on this machine other than windows.

I've tried everything I know to do, I keep all my ISO's backed up and I've burned the 11.0 & 12.0 disc three times and checked them in both my other machines and they work fine but they will not boot on this machine so I can install them.... I must have my "Slackware" somehow on this machine... So, I don't mind doing a trick if anyone knows one or if someone has any idea's what may be the problem is please advise..

I've tried everything I can think of in the bios and since this is a older machine it's cut and dry on options so I don't think there is anything I've missed.. The hardive is on my first IDE master and the cdrom is on my second IDE master. I've got it set to master on the pin's and like I say it will boot five other distro's correctly but not Slackware.

Any Idea's "Anyone".....

I had the same problem.

I ended up burning the disk using kb3 at 16x using TAO and it worked.

However, if you wanted to try to install slackware without burning the disk at all you should take a look at this thread

Took your advise and burned again using TAO mode at 8x but still no luck. It is being to look like I may have to try to post to get Slackware on this old PIII box. The only thing I can find is that the lite-on drive states it's for P4 machines not P3 machines. Since it's not effecting the other distro's I wonder why slackware only if that's the problem... This is a good one, it's like it see's the disc but not is seeing it as boot disc. I wonder is there anyway to give the drive more time on the read the disc maybe that's the key.

Anyone else.

I am sorry it didn't work.

Maybe you could try to boot from a thumb drive

or

Move the HD to a working machine, install Slackware on the HD and then move it back to the intended computer

Great idea's
I'll get it going somehow, but you know it's just strange it's only on the slackware cd's and not anything else since all of them were burned from k3b on a slackware install... Doesn't add up to this old country boy. Anyhow.. I've got a project I would rather do on both the other PC's so back to work and I'll deal with that one later, maybe I'll run across something by then that will answer this post for myself.
