Post CD/RW and DVD/RW burners and linux compatibility

If I were to buy CD/RW and DVD/RW burners for my red hat computer, does the drives have to be LINUX - RED_HAT compatible, or can I buy anything? Is there a list of compatible burners for red hat 9.0?

Did you check the Linux Hardware Compatibilty List? Usually there's not much problem with ATAPI drives.

These are the two I have here:
Code:
PIONEER DVD+/-RW DVR-109
ASUS CRW-5232A3
