alsa reboot problems

Everytime I boot up my computer I have to:

go to the terminal
type alsaconf
select the 2nd card listed (intel8x0), (first is ice1724 which doesn't work)
select "Yes" to modifying /etc/modutils/sound
select "OK"

This gets my onboard sound working and makes me happy. I just wish I wouldn't have to do this each time I boot. I've tried entering "alsactl store" but this isn't solving it.

I'm using kde desktop with debian 2.4.27-2-386.

have you gone to kcontrol and saved the sounds settings?

you should probably choose 'automatic' for detection, and then test that your sound is working.

hope this works.
