Alsa oss emu after new motherboadr

I upgraded motherboards. The old one had a cmedia chip. It worked great and sounded great. The new board has an alc655. It sounds worse, but works fine. When I specify OSS in xine or xmms, it also works fine. However, in winex, I either get no sound or extremely choppy sound, depending on the game. Winex 3.2.1 worked great with my previous chip, but this chip just won't work. Any thoughts?

Kernel 2.6.2
Alsa and relevant oss emu compiled into kernel
